Pet Dog and Pet Parent Training

FAQS

What age of dogs do you train?

I work with dogs as young as 5 months old (typically around the time of their final vaccinations) and there is no upper age limit.

While older dogs may have more ingrained habits—making behavior modification more challenging—dogs of any age can learn new skills and obedience. That said, most of the dogs I train fall between 5 months and 3 years old.

I also offer puppy training consultations for younger pups. These are done via phone and cover:

  • Potty training strategies

  • Crate training

  • Socialization and generalization techniques

  • Home setup for success

Before we schedule a session, I’ll share some excellent free puppy resources. If you want more detailed support afterward, we can follow up with a consultation.

Will you accept a female in heat for board and train?

Generally, yes—as long as there’s no conflict with intact male dogs currently in training. Please contact me to confirm availability and compatibility for scheduling.

What size dogs do you train?

All sizes! Whether your dog is big, small, or somewhere in between, I work with dogs of all shapes and sizes.

What’s a typical day like for a board & train dog?

Your dog will be loved, fulfilled, and well-exercised—in the best way possible. A typical day includes:

  • 2–3 walks per day

  • Play sessions (tug, fetch, or other enrichment)

  • 5+ focused training sessions daily

  • Social time with other safe, well-matched dogs (if appropriate)

  • Rest and recovery time to prevent overload

Every dog's needs and energy levels are different, and I adjust the day to fit them.

What forms of payment do you accept?

  • Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, Cash, Check, Apple Pay, and all major credit cards (2.5% processing fee for cc)

Do you work with aggressive dogs?

Yes—particularly dog-to-dog aggression cases. These are typically best addressed through private lessons, either at your home or mine.

However, I do not work with human-aggressive dogs at my facility. Those cases are only handled through in-home sessions. Please call to discuss further details.

Will a 4-week board & train program hurt my bond with my dog?

Not at all. You’re welcome to visit your dog anytime (within reason) during their stay. If you're doing the 4-week program, you'll be required to visit:

  • Around the 2.5-week mark

  • Again about a week later

These visits help you stay connected and support your dog's transition home.

What’s my role in the training process?

Your involvement is absolutely essential.

  • In private lessons, you're the primary trainer, and I guide you step-by-step.

  • In a board & train program, I do the bulk of the training, but you’ll receive at least four owner lessons. These cover:

    • How to maintain and reinforce your dog’s new behaviors

    • Do's and don'ts for daily life

    • Real-world practice scenarios in your home environment

This ensures your dog listens to you—not just me.
