Pet Dog and Pet Parent Training

FAQS

What age of dogs do you train? I train dogs as young as 5 months old (around their last vaccination) and beyond that, I have no age limit requirement for dogs. Keep in mind the older a dog is the more likely they’ve established bad habits, so in the behavior mod sense, it can be more difficult to undo certain behaviors, but teaching new things like obedience, all dogs at all ages can learn just fine. I typically train dogs from 5 months to 3 years old. I do however, offer puppy training consultations where we discuss potty training strategies, generalization/socialization techniques, crate training and setting up your home for a puppy, etc. This is done via private lessons over the phone. But I will first point you to some very very good FREE puppy recourses and you would then follow up with me for more detailed explanations if needed.

Will you do a board and train for a female in heat? Depends on if I have scheduling with other dogs that are male and not neutered. But generally, yes, I will.

What size dogs do you train? All sizes, big or small.

What’s a typical day look like for a board and train dog? Your dog will be spoiled, BUT in the best sense of the word. They will get walked 2 to 3 times a day, learn to play tug and/or fetch, get 5 or more training sessions a day and probably get to hang with other safe&social dogs. So much fulfillment in fact, I am careful to not overload them and I make sure they are getting plenty of rest.

What form of payment do you accept? Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, cash, check, ApplePay, credit cards (2.5% fee added)… and just a reminder, if you’re not happy with your dog’s results you don’t pay (see the What We Do section for more details).

Do you work with aggressive dogs? Yes. Aggression cases dog to dog, however, I prefer to work on via private lessons which can be done at your place or mine. I will NOT do lessons for a human aggressive dog at my place. For more details, give me a call.

4 weeks is a long time away from my dog, will that affect my relationship with my dog? Nope. Plus, you can visit your dog anytime (within reason) to see how they’re doing and say hi. You will, as a requirement, come see them around 2 1/2 weeks if you’re doing the 4 week program. And again a week later. It does not negatively affect training.

What’s my (their owner/guardian) involvement in training? Your involvement is critical! Obviously, if you’re doing private lessons, your dog’s training is mostly going to be done by you with my guidance. For a b&t, I do all the training but you will be getting owner lessons (minimum of 4). This allows your dog to transition to following your direction, the dos and donts in using their new obedience, and real world scenarios that we will run into during your at home lessons.
